Pros

The same things that draw in customers: product design, style layout, standards, upbeat music, lighting. A few of the other employees "got it" in terms of colleague professionalism.

Cons

Too few/no real growth opportunities. Unprofessional attitudes - many employees were too casual when speaking to me and customers. No solid empowerment - from register training, to tasking, to simply grabbing a pair of jeans from the back. I was always questioning my level of importance. There was a huge gap between leadership and associate.

Pros

Could manage the business as I saw fit as through the lens of a business owner

Cons

Training was minimal and in a location very different than my future store. Staff I inherited was horrible and leadership was not transparent about the status of the store in regards to profitability and issues within the store or company for that matter. Company declared bankruptcy about 5 months after I started and closed my location. Not a great experience.
