Pros

Very flexible shifts, short hours, store discount.

Cons

The training for this job was nonexistent. I was shown one transaction at checkout and then was expected to know how to work the register entirely. I had no idea what I was doing and would get scoffed at when calling managers for help constantly. Also heard a manager talking behind my back complaining about how I didn't know how to do anything which is ironic since it is their fault that I was unprepared. There were high expectations for having no training. I felt very unprepared when going to work and was treated like I had been there for years and should just know how to do everything even though this was my first job in retail. Only stayed for a year, was barely called into work so the stress was not worth the minimum wage salary.

Pros

Could manage the business as I saw fit as through the lens of a business owner

Cons

Training was minimal and in a location very different than my future store. Staff I inherited was horrible and leadership was not transparent about the status of the store in regards to profitability and issues within the store or company for that matter. Company declared bankruptcy about 5 months after I started and closed my location. Not a great experience.
