Pros

Good for beginners, stable job and pay, medical insurance.

Cons

Even if it’s good for beginners, please for the love of God, don’t trust ANYONE. Don’t be naive, there are no friends here, everyone tells everything to each other. All managers know the gossip, because they also gossip A LOT. Relationships matter, your job effort doesn’t. They don’t care how they affect your life. All benefits are shrinking, they have massive budget cut. It is no longer worth your energy or time to stay at this place. Get your experience and LEAVE. The management is so toxic that you will be gaslighted to that point that you will think it’s all your fault. Believe me, it mentally drains you. Please stay away from this place If you have a better offer. The salary is also not competitive enough and every year it’s getting almost to 0% increase. There are no professionals in this place, mediocre type of job and all good people eventually leave this place. You will work with average IQ people and be surprised how actually stupid is the job here.

Pros

Great all around compensation - from salary, benefits (401k & pension & flexible work], medical [fantastic] Great people - at the company you understand everyone around is came from being one of the smartest people at their previous job/university. Within IT the overwhelming majority of people really care for you, this feels way more collaborative than competitive. Career Development - lots of opportunities to grow in breadth of experience to get deep in your skills and grow in leadership skills

Cons

Work Politics - being such a large corporation with a lot of history there is a tendency to be work politics/red tape sheerly because of the size of the company. However, it is not really bad if you are willing network , put yourself out there to talk with leaders, and be a normal hard-working enjoyable employee. If you do these two things you will succeed at ExxonMobil.
