Pros

The organization has a strong mission and many employees—myself included—have stayed for years out of deep commitment to that mission. Colleagues are talented, passionate, and genuinely care about the work being done. Some teams foster a collaborative spirit and high standards.

Cons

After more than two decades of giving it my all, it became clear that leadership's values didn't always match the organization's stated principles. While senior staff frequently highlighted growing revenues and organizational success, that prosperity never trickled down to the rest of us. Salaries stagnated, career growth was inconsistent, and staff recognition often felt performative. Leadership enjoyed first-class travel, luxury accommodations, and high-end meals, while frontline employees were asked to "do more with less." Diversity and inclusion were often used as talking points rather than real, measurable commitments—many of the same voices and groups remained prioritized. In the end, once the funding dried up, it became evident that the financial health of the organization was not what we were led to believe. The promises were plentiful, but the follow-through was not. Many of us feel misled and disappointed after years of dedication.
