Company is not growing organically so they buy other companies and chop heads every year to make numbers. If they don't buy someone they chop even more heads. Raises are anemic at best and health benefits are chipped away at to lower costs. It's brutal and creates a lot of politics.
Employee experience depends on department and manager. I worked for the most untrustworthy unethical executive manager I have ever met in my career. He broke promises and commitments and was happy to do it. He represented everything that is bad about business. Having said that there are other managers that are great people.
Workload varies by department and can be great or non-stop.
The top layer of management is really just managing the numbers. They don't have a grasp of the culture nor do I sense they care much beyond empty mission statements and lip service as long as they get their numbers and retire on the beach. They live in a world far removed from employees. This is not a place for employees to get rich. You will do just OK. It's a place for executives to get rich.
