Pros
High integrity, very good people. FMC works very hard to treat people well and make the work satisfying. People are happy to work hard for the benefit of the whole organization. Excellent technology fundamentals relative to the marketplace. FMC has its problems, but key parts of the organization are waking up to those problems. There is a frank and sober understanding at all levels about the need to fix issues. This both very rare in a company this strong, and highly motivating for everyone. FMC is improving because its people very much want to, as opposed to being forced to by the market.
Cons
Large population of motivated, intelligent people vying for advancement in a flat structure. This leads to internal churn as people seek a way up. However, it's very much to the credit of management that this has not been allowed to devolve into toxic politics.
