I witnessed a woman fired the day before leaving for maternity leave.
A huge order was so far behind schedule that the CEO pulled people from their office jobs such as IT, Payroll, and Middle management for weeks to work in production opening crates, sorting products, sandblasting, packaging the products, and loading them back into crates. When this large task was completed Upper management had to convince the CEO to at least write a letter thanking everyone who went way beyond their job.
One person was caught doing drugs in the bathroom. So they enforced a sign-out policy to leave your work area and had grown adults asking to take a bathroom break.
Incentives were slowly stripped away until they were gone completely.
1. Christmas time meal was replaced with birthday/anniversary lunch, which was then stopped.
2. Saftey hour became harder to achieve until they eventually took it away completely.
3. You used to be able to have an earbud in to listen to music within your work area, but they stopped that as well.
In my opinion, working hard and going above and beyond was not rewarded but only taken advantage of and used against you when things went wrong.
