Pros

Like any contractor, it's an opportunity to support the Federal Government in your area of interest.

Cons

Every day, FSA's policies are changing in ways that cheat their hardworking employees. Examples: the make-up time policy changed so that you *have* to make up your hours within a strict time frame; sick leave policy just changed so that you don't receive front-loaded hours at the beginning of each fiscal year - you have to accrue the hours, so you may start out with zero hours even if you've been working for a while. What the make-up time policy translates to is that we're treated like machines who can simply get up and leave their work unfinished simply because it is 5 PM on a Thursday (pay weeks run Friday-Thursday) -- or we won't get paid for the extra time. Also, regardless of the position you apply for, they will change your contract, responsibilities, and schedule if your supervisor thinks it's a good idea -- irrespective of your supervisor's level of knowledge or qualifications in your specific area, and without your input. Finally, it's extremely difficult to get a hold of their benefits specialists, so good luck getting any questions answered. Bottom line: they are cutting costs and treating employees like conveyor belt assembly people.
