Pros

It's on the Wichita State Campus. So, there are a lot of lunch options that are walking distance.

Cons

This place is truly horrible. Truly. They can't make payroll. They lie to get you to do what they want, use you, and then dump you when you make a stink about your four weeks of back pay. Multiple engineers have quit because of this. They rely on interns, overwork them, and then abuse them. It is not a good place. Compared to the real world of machining, they have no clue what they are doing. Poor management. Poor machining. Poor all around.

Pros

I've been employed at FT since mid-2023. They allow employees a flexible work schedule instead of the regular hard-set clock in/clock out. Management is willing to work with you if the unforeseen issue arises. Full-time employees not only receive PTO and paid holidays, but they can also accrue ETO to use as needed. Employee pay is comparable to the industry, if not above the offered pay of some other business admin positions I had been looking at during my job search. No day is the same; I feel like I learn something new every day, and I've been in business administration for 20+ years. I enjoy being a part of a smaller company that is focused on innovation.

Cons

Workload - I find that it's easy to put in 45+ hours a week, BUT you can end up being compensated for it with ETO. A bit biased since I enjoy keeping busy from clock-in to clock-out, as it makes the day fly by and there's no mid-afternoon slump that can come with office work.

Pros

Many of the employees are capable, hardworking, and supportive. Coworkers generally collaborate well and make a genuine effort to help one another succeed despite the challenges. The team dynamic among peers is a positive aspect of the company.

Cons

My experience at this company was challenging, largely due to leadership and management style. While the work itself had potential, the overall environment made it difficult to perform effectively and grow professionally. Leadership tends to be highly centralized, with significant involvement in day-to-day engineering decisions. This results in frequent micromanagement across experience levels and limits autonomy for both junior and senior engineers. Decision-making is often driven by individual preferences rather than collaborative engineering discussion, which can slow progress and create frustration. The management approach can feel inconsistent and unpredictable, making it difficult for engineers to confidently execute work or apply their professional judgment. This environment does not consistently encourage open technical debate or independent problem-solving. This organization may not be a good fit for engineers who value autonomy, stable direction, and collaborative technical leadership. Those considering a role here should carefully assess whether the management style aligns with their working preferences.
