Pros
Independence, majority of employees care about the mission, lateral opportunities within the large organization, decent benefits for employees meeting the FTE requirements.
Cons
Priorities of Executive leadership as displayed by actions are a mismatch for the mission of the organization. Executive leadership is disconnected from the needs and every day experiences of employees and patients. Middle Management is friendly with direct staff, but have no influence over the direction of their specialty area they are chosen to provide leadership in. All choices are made by Executive leadership and without thought for the input of those impacted by said choices. Employees are treated as replaceable and no one no matter how valuable to their team is attempted to be courted to stay here. Although it's a nonprofit, it feels like a company making decisions for shareholders rather than the patients we serve. Unfortunately in this case, though, the "shareholders" are really the salaries and career ladder bump-ups of our Executive Leadership team who will always and show that they continue to always value their own career trajectories over making an actual difference for patients and families in our communities.
