Pros

This is an agency where you have unlimited potential to learn and wear multiple hats. This makes professional development inevitable. The work schedule is good, 7:30am to 5pm M-R, and 8am to noon every Friday. They are flexible with your hours depending on your position. Most of the Board members are very friendly and helpful with providing resources they have. The employees are AMAZING. They are mostly Hispanic women. Everyone is friendly and usually stick together. There is a lot of opportunity to help people and that helps getting up in the morning knowing an impact is made from your work. Relatively easy to move up or laterally in this company.

Cons

The COO sucks. She is extremely bright and intelligent, but has personality issues that takes away from her brilliance. She is not social. In a human service organization it is crazy that she does not speak to the employees, even a simple good morning. There is also a lack of communication between different levels of management. Those that give directives don't communicate as much as they should with those that actually execute. This affects the success of some of the programs and lowers the moral at times. Benefits are not that great. Even though you can learn so much, there is very little training. When hired there is a lack of an onboarding process. This can be addressed but everyone is so busy working, internal processes rarely get addressed. Raises are rare.

Pros

No point system for absences

Cons

lazy coworkers, favoritism, teacher's pet, extremely high turnover, if you work full-time Monday - Friday you will be expected to work on the weekend as well if they are short staffed and there is no extra pay incentive for working extra hours on the weekend, no extra pay incentive for being on call, monkey see monkey do, schedule is all over the place because of constantly being short staffed and people calling off, new hires don't always know what to do because the little bit of training that you get is horrible, there is no book telling you what to do in some situations, you deal with all kinds of people meaning that you will come across people with severe mental health issues which you are not trained in dealing with, I have seen staff lie on reports in order to accommodate for grants, they do not properly screen for the programs they offer and as a result people fall under the radar and some people receive help that they should not because technically they do not qualify... to be continued
