Get used to stress - Anonymous employee Farm Journal Employee Review

Pros

Pros depend on the department. Sales and content services seem to have more luck with leadership. Editorial does have a huge team branching into many multi-media options.

Cons

Too much stress. Managers, especially on the editorial side, expect you to work at nearly all hours and while on PTO. 60+ hour weeks are the norm. While the merger with Vance Publishing was difficult, managers continue the divide. No transparency (some get bonuses while others don't even get a raise). No one seems to care about work/life balance or communicating issues. Work evironment quickly becomes healthy. Burn out is common. There are too many VPs and too little communication. Any respect I had for Farm Journal as a brand is gone.

Thank you for taking the time to share this review! We are so glad that you are seeing all the positive changes in the way we operate. We also appreciate the comment about some unsteadiness. Rapid change can indeed cause some fatigue, and we will continue to encourage frequent communication, based on transparency, to address it.
