Pros

The people here are awesome. Every single person on my site is friendly, respectful and always willing to help. The benefits from Fast are great, and the pay is competitive (as long as you're willing to relocate). My site does lots of company paid for team building events which are awesome, and the overall environment working with my coworkers is really high energy and (usually) fun despite the slightly boring work you're doing. Every single person I've met from Fast, from the experienced people on my site to the fellow newbies at training, have been intelligent, hard working and easy to get along with. The people are definitely the company's biggest pro for me.

Cons

Most will say the relocation but you're told this millions of times throughout the interview process so don't complain about that. Same with overtime. The work is extremely frustrating in the beginning (and possibly later on too... I'm still new) and can be dull at times. There is an extreme learning curve while trying to figure out how everything works. Don't expect to be doing any programming or writing much code. It's almost all configuring their already existing core product (ie: changing some rows in a few tables). Also most of the time you're not even writing SQL to do these changes, it's all done in GenTax itself. I won't lie, the work is still challenging and I definitely LOOK at a lot of code and have to figure out what it's doing, which is a a valuable skill to have, and I do use SQL quite a bit to get some specific data so that's a plus too. For the most part, I don't think you even need to know how to program to work here. They don't ask you any programming questions in your interview. You can just study the questions on Glassdoor and nail the interview. Makes me feel like the education I got in computer science was just put to waste. I'm terrified of the future and how the skills I'm learning here won't transfer to another job. I think it'd be awesome to get really good at using the system over time, IF I wanted to work here for the rest of my life. If you want to do that, go for it. It'd definitely be a fun experience if you're in it for the long haul. However, if you're just thinking about using this as a resume builder, maybe you took this job right out of college because you were a poor college student desperate for a real job like me, then my advice would be to steer clear of Fast. Find something where your skills will be more valuable for your future.

Pros

-great coworkers -health insurance covered

Cons

It’s so sad to see where this company is headed. Two years in a row of bait and switch annual adjustments; this year the majority of the company got raises that did not even keep pace with inflation. There is no incentive to work hard anymore, as you will receive a worse raise then someone mediocre who’s willing/able to move. No upwards mobility. Your career will be stagnant. Benefits are slowly being gutted. As tech you are on call 24/7/365 and depending on your site you could be called constantly in the middle of the night. Sexism and harassment are not handled appropriately by HR.
