Pros

Opportunities for advancement are plenty, it just takes a lot of dedication. I started as a part time team member almost four years ago am now a member of management. This is a very demanding customer service oriented company, if you don't have patience with customers and if you can't juggle multiple customers at the same time, I wouldn't recommend this job. There is an excellent tuition reimbursement program, fantastic 401k, and paid holidays. The job is fantastic at team member level, schedule is flexible and work is minimally stressful once you're trained.

Cons

Consulting with customers who have no idea how long it takes or how much work goes in to producing a project can be trying. Most customers have unrealistic deadlines and become easily frustrated. The company knows it's strengths and does everything it can to continually build the facets of the business that are most profitable. Shipping makes up most of the revenue for the company, FedEx will keep centers that are minimally profitable stay open if it receives enough shipping business. The company has made lots of strides to increase shipping revenue i.e. same day city delivery, increased packing options (pack plus), one rate shipping, ship and get lockers, converted food trucks that act as mobile shipping centers. The printing side of the business (aside from signs and graphics) is not nearly as profitable, and the company has made changes in equipment that sacrifices quality to save on cost. Print quality is horribly inconsistent, you can literally print a sample for a customer and an hour later when you run the job on the same machine, it can look completely different. This is just as frustrating to the customer as it is for the team. Expect to call in your machines for service two to three times a week and produce a lot of waste scrapping unsatisfactory prints. I'm fairly confident that whatever amount of money the company has saved by switching to the cheaper equipment has probably cost them more in waste in the end. FedEx had no idea what they were getting into when they took on retail ten years ago, and it's clear they still haven't figured it all out yet. There are usually one to two shipping terminals, and they cannot be used for anything other than shipping and purchasing shipping supplies. I cannot tell you how many times I have had a shipping customer who was interested in buying a promotional product (which I receive pay incentives for selling) that changed their mind when I told them I would take them to another register to cash them out for the item separately. Inventory processes are a mess, and the company knows it. The company expects a lot of management, though the pay is not very competitive and the pay increases are laughable.

Pros

Have a Strong staff and great customers -for the most part. Don't see my boss but 1-2 month.

Cons

The corp fluff to accomplish something. Setting all these goals and targets then forget about 90% until it's time to do the yearly "anonymous" survey. Then you see which stores had how many surveys done. 🙄 Keep it short and sweet it would be more effective. Have outstanding customer service but don't do anything personal in your store to recognize your customers. Be different but don't show it 😂 Working for Amazon now with no more pay. It benefits the store not us in our paychecks. At times unrealistic expectations with a high volume store and a staff of 4-5.
