“You First” but not really - Operations Manager First Watch Employee Review

Business hours 7-2:30pm Decent amount of people to have a team Training is written out well

First of all, 7-2:30 is never the case. I was always expected to be there from 5-5 everyday sometimes longer without any breaks. No one was allowed breaks actually- if you wanted a break you better have been a smoker- even though smoking technically isn’t allowed either. You have to tell them when you’re taking your glorified week vacation at the beginning of every year and they have final say if you can take it on that day. Forget weekends off, days off, evening off, or any life outside of the restaurant. You have to pick and choose your battles with this company if you choose to see it through. For me - living basically at the restaurant day in day out was never what I signed up for. Would not recommend to anyone who doesn’t want to be a glorified cook or floater and anyone who wants to have a life outside of the restaurant. 0/10. Also lots of favoritism

Pros

The store is only open until 2:30 so you’re guaranteed your nights off. The menu is fairly easy to learn and the seasonal menu doesn’t change that often.

Cons

Could be my stores location, but we are constantly fighting for hours and tables. There’s not enough income for all here. And when it’s brought up to management they say it’s our “slow season” but turn around and hired three more servers. Also the meanest clientele that I have ever worked with. Very demanding with little patience, and either bad tips ($2-$4) or no tips at all. Especially on large parties. I have spoke to many employees who have worked 3+ years for the company and many of them want to leave. Too often those that don’t do their work are rewarded and it’s put on the shoulders of those that do.
