Pros

• I have been with FirstService Residential MO/KS since my junior year of Highschool (2014) as a part of their pool division/maintenance. Most recently I had the opportunity to fill the role of Project Management Intern, earlier this year. • The professional atmosphere and organization climate are simply great. FSR is built on 7 solid principles which are exercised with a high degree of effectiveness and efficiency every day. Upholding these principles is a well-balanced mix of hard working, personable, colleagues. • The HR department could not be any better. I challenge anybody to try and find a more progressive, supportive and well-organized HR department filled with true leaders, not bosses. • Last, I am extremely thankful for the opportunity FSR provided me. I enjoyed being a part of the organization’s professional community which says a lot as an intern in the corporate world.

Cons

• On occasion, a minor drawback I experienced was a lack of communication between departments. This is an issue experienced not just in business, but every aspect of life. Meaning the resolution should not be anything new to a professional and not too difficult to overcome, making it a minor issue (if it’s on those rare occasions). • Being in the property management business certain time periods can cause internal stress. Stress is fine and absolutely normal in business but on rare occasions this stress was not handled in the most effective way and hindered the organization from reaching its full potential.

Pros

At the time, I was working overnight at a condominium, and the quiet environment gave me the opportunity to focus on my schoolwork since there was very little activity throughout the building. The team I worked with was incredible, they made me feel like I was part of a family, which made the job even more enjoyable and rewarding.

Cons

Working the graveyard shift can significantly affect a person's sleep schedule and overall sleep quality.

Pros

Great company culture with strong core values and a collaborative environment. As a remote employee, the flexibility and work-life balance are a huge plus. The IT environment is also very dynamic — there are multiple systems, platforms, and technologies in use, so the work rarely feels repetitive or boring. The company is supportive of employee growth and development, offering training opportunities and access to a large online learning library. Another positive sign is the number of long-term employees; many people have been with the company for 5+ years, which says a lot about overall employee satisfaction and stability.

Cons

The company frequently changes business processes and technologies. While innovation is good, it can sometimes feel like just when you’ve fully mastered a system or workflow, a new tool or process is introduced. Workload can also fluctuate depending on business initiatives and project demands. Because it’s a large organization, there are a lot of layers of leadership — supervisors, managers, directors, VPs, etc. At times, it can be unclear who the correct point of contact or decision-maker is for certain situations.
