Pros
I met some good co-workers Heart of house location is right off of the highway
Cons
Pretty much everything else. I've worked since I was 16, and by far this was the worst company & boss I've ever worked for all across the board, I almost don't know where to begin, but let's start with the concrete thing: 1. Insurance plans were insanely high. I went from paying 20-$40 for excellent insurance at STARTUPS mind you, to mediocre insurance for over $100+ for one person. When I asked to see the cost breakdown of this information prior to signing, I wasn't given it. I'll never forget my first day in the break room in the Hollywood office. Every single employee was disgruntled and openly complaining about their job. Right away you could tell the culture was toxic, because almost every morning there was a stand up that is supposed to be "so inspiring" but you quickly realize the facade it all is. I saw people who would tell great stories about how nice they were in these stand ups, and hear those same people talking to people awfully over the phone from their office. Also very heavy gossip and "underlying" culture. This is a company that is stuck in the 90's in the way the operate, HR especially, and the value placed on people leadership. It took a very short amount of time to realize my team was mismanaged, and that it was an open secret that the Director of our department was not at all fit to be a people leader. Every single employee under her had shared their terrible experiences and reminisced when they had great leadership from their former boss, and my experience was certainly was no different. In other companies, when someone wasn't fit to lead, and a WHOLE team had a list of grievances, there would be a definite re-evaluation of responsibilities - there is no doubt that this person was good at a part of their job, but leading people simply isn't one of their skills. When going to HR, all I was met with was "they could use coaching" and this is after I know my team had also expressed their concerns. It was very clear from that experience, that HR was simply there to protect the company (what I mean by they are operating like they are in the 90s), no people first mentality whatsoever. In any other company, had I came with the same list of issues, the outcome would've certainly be different. The 2 people in HR that were excellent and trustworthy, both left in my short time there and what I mean by open secret to poor leadership of our department is that I had many people, on my team, on OTHER TEAMS, other managers, senior leadership included that either "felt bad for me having to work under her" or were helpful and warned me that poor leadership is what I'd have to deal with. It was the worst experience I've ever had at a company, everyone knowing the same reality, no one in HR or senior leadership doing anything about it so long as it isn't a liability. They laid majority of my team off when COVID hit, oddly enough the same people who had grievances were the exact people that were laid off.
