Pros
Good benefits. Work from home option before anyone else offered it.
Cons
Passive/aggressive work environment. Nepotism is so engrained in company culture that it's expected. Certain firm policies appear to have been specifically drafted for scapegoating. The workflow and many other policies are clearly designed to maximize billable hours. (While clients might get good results, other firms could do the same for less.) Micromanagement on things that don't affect the outcome, and no management on larger aspects, like expectations, that do. Management is there to just to the bidding of the partners, even if it's bad for morale and overall trust. (For example, there was more than one occasion when dated materials were removed from an employee's desk while that employee was working remotely, and once they returned to the office, management claimed that the project was taking too long. This was not an isolated thing. It happened to more than one employee.) The same people who raise a glass to yours at a happy hour are the same ones who will keep a log of your misdeeds and ignore any successes. The firm will lowball a salary, and claim that the benefits make up for it, but then push employees out once those benefits kick in. It's a good strategy to cut costs, and it shows how much the firm values the people who work for them. You're a hamster in a wheel, churning out billable hours in a manner that's consistent with firm policy. If they can get a cheaper hamster, they will.
