Pros

If you're a regular associate you're only working 4 hrs a day. If you have school or other duties this is great. Easy to move up if you push for it. They haven't perfected a system for that yet. Easy overtime (which isn't really overtime). Potential for benefits if you move up. Awesome discount that extends to any store and can be used by your family as well.

Cons

Low hours for regular CSA's. High expectations with little yield. To get hours you need to move up, it was easy to get to Assistant Manager but once you hit "full time" (37.5hrs) you're expected to drop any other social activities and live only for the store. You will often feel like you're pushing to the extreme but nothing is really getting done.

Pros

-20% discount -med, dental, vision benefits -20-ish minimum hours per week -genuinely can be a fun store to work in when run well

Cons

-store managers have little to no oversight and cross professional boundaries often - hr is ineffective, document everything yourself, report to the EEOC -growth opportunities in the store are very limited and they will lowball you no matter what you do or sacrifice -crazy turnover because the expectations are unrealistic store managers lie about pay budget to everyone -more likely to hire teens and students because they are easier to take advantage of for little pay, only needs adult for when teens and students cannot work (night shifts, school days) - nearby stores, especially if in a strip mall or shopping center, like tj maxx have higher base pay, better benefits, better security, and more hour availability
