The work environment is highly competitive and often toxic. Leadership frequently disregards established policies and procedures. Management has been known to spread rumors, damage reputations, and retaliate against employees who seek opportunities elsewhere for their mental well-being. Instances of verbal aggression toward staff are tolerated. Leadership decisions, including hiring and relocating employees and their families, are sometimes made impulsively, with terminations occurring without warning or clear justification. Employees are often treated as expendable rather than valued individuals. Efforts to perform one's duties can be met with hostility, and coping mechanisms like emotional detachment are misunderstood or criticized.
