Pros

Flexible schedule and the ability to work in a fun environment.

Cons

A lot of your experience will depend on your team, you may be only one or two out of eleven people that actually want to work so you'll be picking up shifts almost every day of the week. Poor preforming employees do not receive any real consequences for their actions. Your team will be understaffed since the university's hiring process is slow and people quit often. Do not expect to be valued by any higher up in housing or even the RAs that you work with in your building.

Pros

Great benefits, excellent retirement options, generous leave, and strong job stability. The campus environment is welcoming, and there are opportunities for professional development and continuing education. The work is meaningful, and many departments foster a collaborative atmosphere with a good work-life balance.

Cons

Salaries can be lower than comparable positions in the private sector, and hiring, promotions, and other administrative processes can move slowly due to university policies. Budget constraints may affect raises and staffing, and parking can be challenging depending on your work location.
