Pros
Made coursework free. The provided stipend is more than other similar programs offered. The work provided job titles that may be more useful to my resume than the degree itself. The jobs are in line with my professional interests.
Cons
Because such programs attract people who take pride in and responsibility for their work, you end up working more than the hours advertised, even if your supervisors encourage you to track hours and advocate for a reduced workload if you need it to accommodate your coursework. Because tracking and advocacy feels as if it would just take more of your time still. But do it from the start with a good app. Train yourself in this. It is also additional work to advocate with your supervisors to let you do things in the first place. It becomes exhausting to advocate change and optimization, and you end up accepting the solid titles and free coursework and becoming a reflection of your supervisors instead of the worker you were envisioning becoming when you began the program.
