Surviving the Toxic Trenches: A Dark Reality - Sales Enablement Manager Forrester Employee Review

Pros

A once-great place to work with brilliant minds, where opportunities for growth were abundant until about five years ago.

Cons

There are no longer opportunities for growth, raises, or promotions, not even merit raises. Employees are overworked with minimal resources, only to receive a pat on the back or an award as thanks. Despite the lack of upskilling programs, employees are criticized for insufficient skills. Requests for small certifications to improve skills are denied and mocked. Colleagues, regardless of their position or expertise, who suggest innovative ideas or identify product/service flaws early are dismissed by the executive team and CEO, who seem intent on driving the company into the ground.

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts. It is heart warming to see your strong passion for the company and care about its success as a former employee. I am sorry to hear that you felt opportunities had diminished while you were here. We believe career development is important for all and hence we have multiple upskilling programs like Open Sesame for anytime learning and leadership development programs catering to new managers and leaders. We do agree that merit and promotions remain a critical way that we invest in our employees. As shared internally, merit increases and promotions effective April will be communicated to employees in just a few weeks. In terms of employee development, we are excited to roll out new programs this year aimed at helping managers hone their leadership skills and supporting employees as they grow their careers. I recognize that trust is built through action – I appreciate your feedback as we continue to make meaningful investments in and changes for our employees. Thank you for taking the time. Pros

Forrester is a truly rewarding place to work. I feel like I make a meaningful difference every day, both for our clients and within the organization. The colleagues here are exceptional. They are smart, collaborative, and genuinely supportive. I’m constantly learning from a talented group of people who care deeply about the quality of their work and the impact it has. The culture encourages thoughtful problem-solving, professional growth, and doing work that matters.

Cons

The most challenging aspect right now is the current business performance, which can create uncertainty and added pressure across teams. At times, this environment can impact workloads, decision-making speed, and overall predictability.

Thank you for your many years of contribution to Forrester ! I’m really glad to hear how strongly you feel about your colleagues and the impact of the work. It's wonderful to see the combination of thoughtful problem-solving, collaboration, and meaningful outcomes reflected in your experience. You’re also right to call out the challenges of the current business environment. Periods of change and performance pressure can create uncertainty, and I know that can impact workload, pace, and predictability. I am confident we are on the right path towards growth this year and it wouldnt have been possible without great colleagues like you. Thank you again for your candid feedback, it means a great deal coming from someone with such deep experience at Forrester. Jobina Gonsalves Chief People Officer
