Pros
I was a senior analyst within the research team for more than 5 years. At first when I joined it was a very steep ramp and I moved from manager to manager because they weren't sure where to put my coverage. Once I landed with a former operator it was great. We really vibed and the research and coverage we did was great. I loved being able to travel and have many speaking opportunities.
Cons
Forrester started going downhill with the SD acquisition. It wasn't apparent immediately but looking back it is really clear. That's when the business model shifting and they turned away from vendor coverage which was driving most of the revenue. Forrester is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're going to get. I had the chance to work with so many amazing people who were kind and smart. I also got exposed to some very toxic personalities. The challenge is you really never know what you will get when working with both sales and research teams. Some in research leadership lacked basic emotional intelligence. I feel bad for Forrester because it could have been amazing.
