Pros

The PTO accrual is good but even that has its issues. You have to use PTO in 4 hour increments. You don’t accrue any sick days so wave goodbye to your PTO when you get sick. I would say that the true pro is the healthcare package which has a reasonable co-pay and is about $150 per check. Use it to your full advantage! Especially the behavior health and therapy coverage because you will need it considering all the stress that comes with being a part of this organization.

Cons

Management do not trust their employees and make top-down decisions that are irrelevant to the programs being offered. This unnecessary red tape that makes it harder for employees to do their job. There is constant micromanaging and pressure to perform with no space, time, or resources. People at FSC love the chain of command and this doesn’t sit well with me. Instead of addressing issues and praise with me, people will email my supervisor to let me know. I found this to be unsettling under both positive and negative contexts. I am continually repulsed by the organization’s commitment to the TTS curriculum which turns a blind eye to power. TTS frames poverty as a disease that needs to be treated. It is stigmatizing and disempowering.

Thank for taking the time to leave a review. There are a couple of criticisms in here that are important to address. For PTO, most of our staff like the PTO because it allows you to use time for being sick or vacation. That way you don't end up losing sick days at the end of the year because you didn't get sick, as happens at many other companies. It is worrying that you feel "repulsed" by our usage of the Transition to Success model and I think you have missed the point of the approach. TTS does not frame poverty as a "disease," rather as a treatable condition - that is, something that can be changed. Dr. Wilson used a medical analogy because she was specifically trying to move away from the stigmatizing and disempowering conception of poverty as some sort of inherent character flaw. She is trying to show that poverty is situational, not someone's "fault." With support and services, we work with participants to understand and plan for their dreams.

Pros

Really good people with equally good intentions to help those who are in a vulnerable place.

Cons

There was a big pressure to get people to be enrolled into the program with no financial bonus incentive.
