Pros
Fun if you enjoy working with kids! Teaching and helping them develop skills and reduce fear is so rewarding. Earning their trust, making kids safer swimmers, and making sure they have FUN while you do it is what this job all about. Also a lot of my co-workers were great people and so fun to work with.
Cons
Management was super passive aggressive, gossipy, and 2 faced. You never really know where you stand as people move from "favorites" to black listed very quickly and without reason. This effects the results of your evaluations and therefor your raise/bonus structure. All the parents can love you & praise your hard work and you can follow all the lesson plans, but if management decides they don't like you, your score goes down one way or another. Also lots of time in the pool can have a very high burn out factor. You have to be careful not to overextend yourself with the schedule bc once you commit you're locked in for months. Also if you call in sick its a huge problem and disrupts everything so teachers come in and work while sick constantly. Its frowned upon if you don't. Its a good job for a while, but after 1-2 years, time to move on.
