Pros
Individual contributors at this company are great to work with. I have developed great relationships with peers.
Cons
Politics are strong in this family run business. The Operations and Marketing sides of the business are not aligned and actually have an adversarial relationship. Executives are overly focused on driving costs out of the business, even when it introduces quality issues, and does not have a vision for innovation and building the brand. New CEO is trying to shift power back to Marketing to lead this company into the future, but is struggling to gain support from the good 'ole boys. Employee experience vary drastically based on the department you report up into. Some are more focused on employee satisfaction and work/life balance. Others believe you work until you get the job done even if that means late into the evenings or on weekends. In my group it is routine for employees to work until the am hours even on the weekend... and this is not a plant position, but a corporate office. The company is very tight with money and severely limits the ability of employees to travel to suppliers or plants. The company also has no understanding of Six Sigma or lean manufacturing. Most production processes are not in control. Operators are promoted up into management positions based on personality, but plants do not have strong engineering expertise on staff. The company operates decades behind.
