Pros
Foundry has a unique business model that combines data science solutions with opportunities to create valuable software. The project-based nature of the work exposes you to different people, industries, and types of work so you learn a ton on the job. Everyone hired is eminently qualified, which contributes to the learning environment. Even starting out, I was able to contribute immediately, and the team I was placed on has been great about answering my questions and helping me along. The opportunities for advancement are incredible because of Foundry's continued growth and engagement in different products. It is a fun, start-up-esque environment with the resources of a larger company. Even remotely, we have a social lunches and virtual happy hours. It is a close team with a high ceiling working on incredibly interesting problems.
Cons
Foundry is continuing to improve its diversity. Currently majority male and white like many tech firms, but Foundry is very conscious of this and actively taking steps towards diversifying. We solve business problems. The problems are hard and interesting, but entirely scoped to make money for our partners. I wish there was a greater focus on doing social good. Team placement is based on need, so even if there is a super interesting group or project, you are not guaranteed to be placed where you want to be.
