Pros

Great employee benefits (you get to stay at other Four Seasons Properties); work in a iconic hotel and some great colleagues

Cons

Snake pit. Senior management has no accountability. Managers actively ignore ongoing issues and encourage a negative culture within the department. The turnover in the hotel is quite high across departments since people don't seem to tolerate the overall harassment and mismanagement from managers. HR is non existent. If it was in any other country there would be a class lawsuit ... but being Portugal either you tolerate that or move on (the hotel has a few of ongoing legal disputes). No feedback is given as you go, expect to be surprised at your end of year review. DOR has no self awareness and same goes for ADORs. Also, GM is nowhere to be seen. Overall do not expect the FS Lisbon to follow the FS Culture (one of the things that makes working for FS such a great thing). Additionally, expect to be offered a position bellow of what you are applying as it is customary in that hotel (regardless of previous experience/references or academic degrees in the area). If you are joining for departments outside of Rooms Division or F&B things might be different.

Pros

Very friendly staff. Straightforward job with good pay. Overall an enjoyable job.

Cons

Inconsistent hours. Burnout can occur if you're looking for something easy. Other than that its pretty much exactly what you'd expect. Good job to have.

Pros

Free nights Lots of paid sick time (use it; trust me, everyone uses it as extra vacation, and it fully replenishes every year) Paid holidays Good benefits

Cons

Communication is terrible; act first, communicate later. Constant shifting goalposts; it seems like, before we can nail down one new kpi or project, an exec got bored and created a new one. The brand seems to have lost its roots since the founder left. If you are in FnB, you enjoy schedule flexibility, not here. If you are full-time, you will always work 40 hours unless you use vacation, and hotels are exhausting. Trading shifts is not a thing. There's no technical training. There's a lot of mandatory training, but it only covers work culture topics. Your direct manager will rarly be available since they seem to be in a meeting every hour of the day.
