Pros

Get to work with kids, gain experience in autism, Work side by side with behavior practitioners, learn about ABA. Coworkers are usually more helpful than supervisors.

Cons

Constantly hit in the face, not told about the physical aspect of the job, supervisors suck- they expect you to know everything about ABA and figure things out on your own after asking multiple times for help. The pay sucks, for having a bachelors you should be getting paid more to work with children who have autism.

Thank you for your response. Your experience appears to have been challenging and we strive to provide not only equipping, but ongoing support for staff . We'd be happy to discuss your employment situation with you in person if you are willing. Please contact amanda.prince@fraser.org if you would like to talk through this further. ABA is intensive Autism treatment which is why we seek skilled providers (Registered Behavior Techs, Behavior Professionals, etc.) who have the resources to support children who have these needs. Please let us know why you did not feel equipped for this particular setting.

Supportive, laid-back culture. Opportunities for growth. Work/life balance.

Cons

The cons are outside of their control (county/state policies make the work difficult at times)
