Low Trust, High Burnout - Certified Peer Support Specialist Frontier Behavioral Health Employee Review

Pros

Great PTO, Sick Pay, and Extended Sick Pay. You get to help people which is fulfilling.

Cons

Management fosters an environment of little trust and high secrecy. There are a lot of gatekeepers of information and one-way channels to learn information, like if there is a program change, you will hear about it after the change has occurred. This creates little trust between you and management. High caseloads would be manageable if management was supportive and communication was clear, but this is not the case here. Higher up management seems very disconnected from the realities of employees. Pay is low, and though this is normal for this field, it is usually at or below market rate for the position. The health insurance options are not great. They can’t even help you get therapy which is ironic since you are working for a behavioral health clinic. Lastly, the peer position is not well understood by management and misused. Outside trainings from HCA and around the nation do not match how peers are made to operate within this organization. In many peer positions, you are just an underpaid case manager under the guise of being a peer supporter.

Pros

- Paid time off is decent; 26 days per year

Cons

- Management treats all inpatient staff very poorly. - Inpatient staff only ever hear anything from management when it's bad feedback, leading to low morale and burnout. - When they want an employee gone (for example, because an employee reported a nurse to the state for violating federal HIPAA laws), they will target that employee by abusing the security camera system and filling in any blanks any way they see fit.
