Pros
The product is pretty interesting and implementation is super easy. This allows for a great sales cycle with several "wow" moments during the demo and quick setup that can really benefit the growth/midmarket deal cycles. The product has the potential to service multiple departments and that makes land and expand approaches very efficient with ideal customer profiles.
Cons
Warning: Avoid the sales department at all costs! It has devolved into a toxic dumpster fire over the past several years. Initially, there was a strong group of AEs who were well-versed in the product and genuinely invested in developing a successful sales playbook. However, as the company grew, their expertise became irrelevant as management prioritized projecting a false image of growth and success rather than facing reality. Instead of nurturing a healthy sales environment, management created territories, verticals, and unnecessary middle management prematurely. Management that came from Salesforce blindly attempted to recreate the Salesforce model in a desperate attempt to replicate its success. As a result, performance metrics among AEs became extremely lopsided, setting many up for failure right from the start. Unattainable targets became the norm, leading to consistently high churn rates that have only worsened since the recent reorganization. In a feeble attempt to feign career development, management implemented levels within roles and promotion criteria. However, the execution at FullStory was a complete joke. It became evident that favoritism ruled the day, rendering the assigned levels effectively meaningless. Some lucky individuals would skip levels and get promoted without meeting the supposed metrics, while others who did meet their targets were inexplicably placed on Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs). Those who dared to voice legitimate criticism were the primary targets of PIPs. Management's obsession with projecting growth led them to frequently hire external candidates rather than promoting knowledgeable candidates from within. If you value work/life balance, steer clear of this company. Micromanagement is the name of the game here. Even the slightest flicker of your Slack status being offline will trigger questioning. Planning to take time off? Be prepared to be incessantly hounded every day, regardless of how much preparation to leave you've done. Instead of accepting any accountability for their poor leadership, management aggressively defends their role and readily throws individual contributors under the bus. The company's Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) efforts are extremely disheartening. Despite their claims of empathy and support, the reality of their values shines through in the sales management choices. I know of several horrible experiences that have been reported to HR multiple times, but they have resulted in no repercussions or meaningful changes. HR here is the worst I've ever encountered. The majority of the leaders responsible for these issues still hold their seats, perpetuating the toxic culture. If you need any other indicators of how management values DEI - they laid off the Head of DEI after maybe a year of tenure? I implore anyone considering a sales role here to speak with literally anyone who has left the company. You will find that everyone shares similar stories of frustration and disappointment. Don't be fooled by any positive reviews you come across. They are clearly manufactured. The only value to be obtained from this role is the fact that your bar for decency will be drastically lowered and wherever your next job is will seem like very green grass.
