Great for the long haul when thinking of retirement - Cafeteria Manager Fulton County Schools Employee Review

Pros

I love my job and the people who work for me. I manage a cafeteria in one of the high schools and it is as if I am running my own restaurant. The more I put into it the greater the rewards are as part of our salary is based on number of meals served and revenue generated. I enjoy making sure that all of my customers are satisfied with their meals as they do have a choice to bring lunch from home, so customer service and presentation and taste bring repeat guests.

Cons

I work for the government, so with that said paper work is ridiculous, accounting for every crumb that leaves or enters the kitchen. The teachers and staff sometimes treat myself and my staff as nobodies, but little do they know that most have a college education and have had a career in the business world before taking this job so they can be off when their kids are off and enjoy holidays and summers with their families.

Pros

You get a wide variety of schools to work with.

Cons

South Fulton and Alpharetta are really far away from the city center, and there can be a lot of favoritism in those areas. Paraprofessional pay is very low, and that can sometimes be the only thing that is available on Aesop. You may barely have a break to take your lunch - 30 mins or so.
