Neutral Experience - Special Ed Teacher Fulton County Schools Employee Review

Pros

Doesn't take out social security which equates to slightly higher pay (take-home pay still commensurate with other counties). Fulton was one of the counties better prepared for the recession, though still no raise after 2 years, and furlough days were deducted last academic year (not exclusive to Fulton however).

Cons

Poor organization! Central Office higher-ups in charge of too many departments. New employees left to "figure it out." Hiring process nerve-racking. Lack of respect for related services providers with advanced degrees (not exclusive to Fulton). A frustratingly amount of kowtowing to parents so as not to "rock the boat." Professional opinion disregarded (not exclusive to Fulton).

Pros

You get a wide variety of schools to work with.

Cons

South Fulton and Alpharetta are really far away from the city center, and there can be a lot of favoritism in those areas. Paraprofessional pay is very low, and that can sometimes be the only thing that is available on Aesop. You may barely have a break to take your lunch - 30 mins or so.
