Pros
Having the holidays and summer-time off is nice; The pay for a first year teacher is one of the highest in the state; If you're lucky, you may be in a school where the other teachers and administration care about the students' well being, and not just their CRCT scores
Cons
Parental support of student academic achievement is typically low; Students typically don't have the resources at home that they need in order to complete their homework or do research (many don't have internet access); Verbal affirmation of a job well-done is not often given by co-workers or administration (I've worked at 3 different schools in the county); Many teachers who have been working there for 10 years or more typically do not want to incorporate new methods and shun change in planning and communication
