Teachers aren’t Respected - Special Education Teacher Fulton County Schools Employee Review

Pros

Fulton County Schools’ principals and assistant principals for the most part, breed a mix of fear and competition amongst their teachers. They give a huge workload and offer very little planning time. If an administrator doesn’t like you, they willl bully you. You will not protected by the school board. They will back up their administrators regardless of how well-liked the teacher is by parents, peers and students. Anyone who dares speak up about admin will be punished for it.

Cons

Administrators are not held accountable for how they treat teachers. Special education students are not being served adequately when they are being taken out of the gen ed environment only to be in a class where the teacher has varying subjects and grade levels at once.

Pros

You get a wide variety of schools to work with.

Cons

South Fulton and Alpharetta are really far away from the city center, and there can be a lot of favoritism in those areas. Paraprofessional pay is very low, and that can sometimes be the only thing that is available on Aesop. You may barely have a break to take your lunch - 30 mins or so.
