Pros

They make cool stuff if you're into toys and pop culture

Cons

Where to begin? First of all, there's no career path if you work here. They'll hire outside for any promotion, and not even tell you they're looking. You have no chance to rise in the organization unless you come from the warehouse, which means they were paying you minimum wage to begin with and still won't have to pay you jack since you're so grateful to get a desk. They underpay the employees under the idea that it's "fun", but you'll get screamed at enough that it's far from it. The environment is super toxic. About 3 executives control the entire company and don't care what anyone else thinks about anything. They bring in their buddies from outside and have no loyalty to current employees - I've watched them do this now in licensing, marketing and even HR! The whole company is just a glorified sales dept and the new president (from sales) isn't going to change that. For a public company, this place is run by amateurs. But you probably can tell that if you saw how the IPO went (worst IPO in 20 years some say). This place is just an absolute mess. If you do decide to work here, don't expect any kind of career path and expect to be shown the door if you have any opinions at all.

Pros

The team you get to work with and grow with is the best part of the job. If you’re into the product, the employee discount is solid I suppose.

Cons

Near zero chance for career growth with this company, within the retail store itself or moving up to corporate. The company has been subject to frequent layoffs and “restructuring”. The retail store has had three different general managers (so far). There are associates that have been part time for years, yet working full time hours, receiving no benefits. The retail store doesn’t utilize its workers properly. Good, solid workers have jumped ship completely due to burnout, being stepped on, management refusing to correct toxic workplace behavior, and selective coaching. You’re promised the opportunity to grow, but denied the development to make that a reality.
