Pros

When I started GEHA was a great place to work, they cared about their members and employees, we were a family. As an employee I felt like I was helping our members daily and loved my job

Cons

Over time, GEHA lost the family feeling & employees were just a number. Employee benefits were reduced. New upper management had high turnover, micromanaged, had meetings to plan meetings about nothing. Didn’t bother to learn how to process claims when they came to the company, yet made new guidelines/policies for claims processing that never worked. Outsourced work & claim processing quality gone, errors made more work for original employees. Members very upset with how their claims have been handled & I don’t blame them

Pros

Strong brand identity and mission-oriented culture on a corporate level. The work feels meaningful and is very rewarding.

Cons

Technical debt is gargantuan, while development methods and task management are floundering. Individual initiative is not rewarded, and self-starters will be frustrated by opaque or arbitrary performance metrics, petty infighting and favoritism. Very tough on neurodivergent folks due to some choice anti-mental health sentiments, and deeply conservative gender expectations.
