Tough time for wine industry - Analyst GALLO Employee Review

Pros

Good benefits and people to work with.

Cons

No upward mobility in the Northern region because of the decline of the wine industry. Everything is getting pulled to Modesto (jobs, opportunity, etc.). If you want to live in Modesto it is a totally different situation, and you can likely have a great career (but you have to want to live in Modesto...). We get more and more work piled on and no upward advancement. One of our Assistant Managers put in their name for a promotion to Manager and was told that unless they moved their family to Modesto they would not be considered. This person has put in years and years of work, and their career is officially stalled unless they relocate. The vibe is very "sorry, it is what it is". Layoffs every year and small pay increases (not keeping up with the cost of living). Everyone smart is updating their resumes and looking for an exit strategy. Those in denial about the situation have been trying to be good soldiers/cheerleaders, but they just seem sadder every time we see them. The vibes aren't vibing!

Pros

Gallo has extremely talented people and incredible products. I’ve found real opportunities to learn, grow, and make an impact.

Cons

Fast pace at times, with occasional shifting priorities. Very few downsides overall.

Pros

For the area, this is one of the best places to work living in the Central Valley.

Cons

Priorities aren’t aligned across the business units. There’s a real lack of what it means to work at Gallo these days. Each group is out for themselves.
