Pros
Compensation relative to the cost of living is strong. Gallo is a private company influenced less by short term performance than long term performance. Predictable business cycle is based on grape harvest.
Cons
Gallo IS department has adopted bureaucratic blend of: 1) non-technical "analysts" that "face" with the customer but are many times technically under-skilled to make a strong impact and usually end-up "in the way" of people actually getting things done, 2) frustrated developers and technical experts, and 3) low-initiative and fairly clueless mid-level management selected more for their "diverse" gender and race, rather than their "diverse" competency in the IT field. I guess somebody would rather have a department that looks good in a photo rather that one which is aggressive, competent, and garners confidence from its customers.
