Pros
The company provides significant opportunities to grow (both salary and responsibility). I joined GAP Solutions as an onsite contractor research assistant in 2002 on the company's first federal prime contract. I quickly found that hard work is rewarded and was promoted to Team Lead, then Program Manager for the contractor team. I joined the corporate office in 2011, which was a seamless transition, giving more opportunities for growth and the ability to work more closely with a lot of great folks at GAP HQ. I've been promoted five times in the past 9 years and have enjoyed working across the organization in Program Management, Business Development, and within the Senior Leadership Team. I truly enjoy working for a company the recognizes and rewards everyone across the organization.
Cons
As a mid-size large business, we must navigate the same competitive landscape as the large integrators without the advantage of small business designations. Although this does lead to some great partnerships across the industry. Based on these experiences, it would be great if more government worksites mirrored the positive culture and environment of the company. In my 18 years, there have been only a few customers that truly demonstrate a one-team, one-fight atmosphere that embraces the contractor workforce.
