Pros

Compensation and benefits similar to others in the industry. Flexibility to work remotely throughout most of the country. Most colleagues are supportive and communicate well.

Cons

Leadership out of touch with the company's market position. This company is undoubtedly in the bottom third of its industry, yet leadership acts as if they are a market leader. They hire for positions that were not necessary and then lay those same people off a few months later, all while ignoring the operational flaws that needed to be fixed to improve market share. Salespeople were increasingly micromanaged and pressured to perform yet they were not allowed to point out the operational issues that were the root cause of poor performance. I saw GCG hire multiple people without industry experience, and there was no formal training available to learn their products. Customers are knowledgeable and expect their vendors to be as well. Only after leaving did I realize GCG hired these folks because they could not recruit better candidates. Management tried implementing sales training and competitions between salespeople with little success. A lot of time was spent in unproductive mandatory meetings that could have been relayed through email. Other companies in the industry run much leaner and move quickly to correct operational flaws. If you are a good salesperson, there are simply better options out there. Don't settle for GCG.

Pros

Most of the people you work with are great. At least the ones I knew where, but most of them were let go.

Cons

There are some bad apples in the cart. You know there's a power struggle with certain types of employees. Too much shifting, constant change and no real direction. I've worked on too many campaigns/projects that didn't see the light of day as business direction changed. A lot of great people were let go and the rest jumped ship.
