Pros
Working at GE can remain work if you want it to, but it can be a way of life too - if you are looking for involvement. American company to the core, GE volunteership, GE talent retention, whatnot. I enjoyed GE Moneybank benefits too at the time. Lots of areas to move to (although I found it difficult & had to leave) , jobs are first posted internally. They stress you can even change your field of expertise (move to HR from Engineering if you please)... I got a higher-than-average pay, but I think that was due to my negotiation skills rather than GE's own benevolence: but that just goes to prove, there is money there (largest firms), and they spend on what makes sense... Everything will always be white-business: compliance, legal... you never have to be afraid.
Cons
You can get lost in the policies... A multinational company will always take what you offer. If you stay 10 hrs instead of 8, it will swallow it. (If you make it official, they will pay overtime, of course... but nobody is ever giving you back those 2 hrs from your children - beware).
