Pros
Good pay, looks good on the resume, permissive time off, community involvement, important for national security and economy. Many people seem to be very happy working here.
Cons
Such a frustrating and disappointing experience working here. I thought I was making a lateral movement by coming to GE but it has ended up being a big step down and away. Down from the level of authority and influence and fulfillment that I had at my previous company, and away from the career path that I want. The job I was hired to do bears little resemblance to the job I perform. There is a major cultural divide between younger people and leadership who are focused on progress, and older generations who just want to be left alone until they retire. An incredible amount of effort is required to do simple things. More red tape than you might realize.
