Pros
Under Welch GE was a true meritocracy and you got the chance to stretch and grow. Impact and values determined mattered the most. I truly admired most all of my direct managers and valued their mentoring. It helped make me a confident, competent senior manager.
Cons
Under Immelt, the selection of world class senior managers deteriorated significantly. Jeff just lacks the capability to evaluate and select great senior managers. Also, career growth opportunities to move between business have become stagnant. This was at one time a source of great competitive edge for GE.
