Pros

One cannot complain about the benefits, the employer preferred was well worth it! Promotions (other than your department) are real and based on actual performance v tenure Profit sharing is excellent, it is what everyone looks forward to! Forget 401k matching!

Cons

Senior positions are heavy in the favor of tenure (not metrics), high-fliers beware LOTS of 'manager prep' employees stuck and tenured management shuns good ideas Despite investment in employees, GEICO will terminate rather easily and turnover is high Work/ life is difficult at best. Say goodbye to your life for some time to come One of the biggest HR operations in modern corporate history at work, top-heavy Sales practices are not for faint of heart or those who value ethics

Pros

Decent pay and remote work.

Cons

Poor management at all levels, and high turnover in the IT department. Profit sharing was initially offered when I started in 2013 but disappeared after covid. Management laid off most of the IT staff that had the technical and insurance knowledge in favor of bringing in new staff to transition GEICO into a tech company. Not sure what the status of the IT department is in 2026.
