Pros

Pay was decent, but still below most competitors. Benefits were great, but they were switching to a new company before I left, so current packages I’m unaware of.

Cons

Unrealistic expectations. They have completely restructured the claims department. This has resulted in certain files not being reviewed properly, and incorrect handling. When I first started with GEICO their training was immaculate. There was a team dedicated to reviewing calls and files regularly and reporting errors to supervisors. My job was that of a claims representative (in a call center like setting) and now it’s literally just a call center. They threaten job security to push for production of certain numbers. Going on vacation? Out sick? FMLA? Doesn’t matter. Hit those numbers, or you’re under review. Many got whiff of this back when COVID was at its height. WFH was treated as an incentive vs a SAFETY CONCERN. I know first hand of associates that were forced to return to office whether they were high risk or lived with high risk people, due to questionable performance. At one point when I started, it was always said that GEICO always trained vs firing people. GEICO is losing money and they are now treating employees like cattle. Bringing new, oblivious, lower paid people in. Things like profit sharing, gone. This is now a toxic place to work, and it’s trickling down to the very lowest. The company I started with is no more.

Pros

Strong opportunities for career growth Many people are willing to mentor and support others without expecting anything in return Supportive culture, even from people who may not know you personally Increased focus on education and development, especially for leaders More company activities at the local office, which has been a welcome change Fun associate engagement opportunities like escape rooms, art activities, games, and food events So many opportunities for recognition

Cons

There are still some areas where the company appears to be rebuilding trust and confidence Change is noticeable and appreciated, but some improvements are still in progress Feedback has clearly helped shape recent changes, and it will be good to see that progress continue
