Pros
Honestly, I enjoyed my first few months at GEICO just fine. Bonuses, merit raises, profit sharing all factor into the great pay. Health, Dental, Life, AD&D and Vision insurance is excellent. Inexpensive and GEICO offers multiple types of plans.
Cons
The only reason I stayed at the company for 4 years is because of the pay and benefits. My direct supervisors were always great, too. However, everything else about the company sucked. Upper management lacks the capability to communicate with their employees (or straight up *lie* in emails). Almost every associate talks about how they’ve never experienced such bad depression and anxiety before. The job is high-stress. You’re expected to be non-stop talking to customers (avg 5 minutes/call) for 8 hours every day. You’re micromanaged to the MAX. And the company actually tries to dissuade you from taking vacation/sick (which feels illegal in some ways??). This company has seriously gone downhill over the past couple of years and I have never been happier that I got out when I did. TL;DR If you’re curious about how the company actually operates and treats their associates, the Reddit subpage r/GEICO can give you some SERIOUS insight. (The company tries to hide this page lmfao)
