Everything else. My location worked was in AZ and EVERY PERSON there speaks Spanish as their first language. I don’t speak Spanish, so the language barriers hindered me from performing at my very best. It also seemed to really annoy some leads that I didn’t speak Spanish..? Literally one team leader talked to me like I was an actual human being, while everyone else had a hard time understanding my questions and I got three different answers from three different training leads for the same question. The training is short and disorganized and you will be micromanaged if you make mistakes (yes, even if you make a mistake on Day 1). Safety is also not a big priority from what I encountered; I worked 12 hours a day and we stretched once before one shift and never again. We also risked breaking/damaging items daily because totes are placed back on shelves AFTER a different employee has already started to Pick a different order, so items risk falling to their doom due to Pickers not waiting for the tote to be returned. Another big con for me was the fact that I worked 12 hour days with one break and one 30 min lunch. I was told first day that I would have TWO 30-minute breaks and one 30-minute lunch before shift started, but no one abided by that and I ended up with one break and one lunch. That seems a little harsh for a 12-hour work day, my knees and lower back feel internally bruised from standing and bending for so long. One last thing to remember before considering working at GEODIS is that attendance is STRICT. After 3 points they can decide to let you go, and a lot of the time they DO. So good luck, because calling off 1 day takes 3 points. Small side note cons would be: Pay is biweekly, you can’t have any candy in the warehouse, you can’t have gum in the warehouse, you’re not allowed to have ANY kind of snack (including gum) on the floor, associates get upset / do not communicate if you do not speak Spanish at this location, and there are no breaks/off time on the floor (it’s just you going ‘x games mode’ until break or lunch).
