This company used to be the ideal workplace for anyone entering the world of journalism. USED TO. It had good benefits, decent parking, a strong Union -which Management hated- and a vision of going forward.
Cons
It's been known for years now that GFR Media is throwing its employees under the bus. Awful managers, frequent clashes with the Union, downsizing for "economic reasons" and immediately rehiring for a fraction of the cost, no direction, moody and at times hysterical bosses, a culture of fear... all the while presenting themselves like the saviors and pioneers of journalism on Puerto Rico. Right now, they're blaming Hurricane Maria for their losses and cutting benefits, hours, vacation, sick days and threatening to fire 100+ people. And they'll do it, regardless of Union or local laws.
